And as the Enron model of world management came to its ugly conclusion the mass media chattered upbeat inanities that helped most people believe that everything really could run unsustainably on avarice, fraud and pure bullshit for as good as forever.
It would make one heck of a movie story with Bruce Willis flexing and co-star ‘Twig the wonderkid’ pouting, told 50 years in the future as they look back and try to retell the legends of 'the great turning point' – the big freak out. “Yeah it was one hell of a ride”, said Twig with a grin, “like having multiple apocalypses all at once.”
